Meet Eytan Stanton '19
My name is Eytan Stanton and I am a senior, class of 2019. Both of my parents, my uncles and my brother attended the Bronx High School of Science. Evidently, Science runs in the family.
Going into this school, I knew the academics would be prestigious. With the most qualified teachers and hardworking students, our school lives up to its name. What has influenced my high school experience the most, however, is the incredible range of clubs and classes being offered: ones I did not expect to take at a school with “Science” in its name. In example, it is not evident that the humanities are one of our school’s strong suits. To my delight, my history and English classes operate at an equally high level as my S.T.E.M. classes.
Our school is evolving. Administrators are quick to recognize new fields of study, and institute them. One of my most interesting classes this year is Green Design: a new class with a focus on environment studies and engineering. Also, previous institutions within our school have been recently updated, like the Digital Music lab. I am proud to see our school institute new classes and invest in state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Furthermore, there is an incredible arts community within our school. As the Senior Editor of our school’s literature and arts magazine, Dynamo, I have experienced this community first hand. Illustrators, photographers, poets and other creatives have an established history within our school. Dynamo has been annually produced since the 1950’s. Notable Alumni writers such as E.L. Doctorow have had their first literary works published in this very magazine. Alumni continue to affect our lives, generously donating funds to cover the magazines printing cost this past year. At our school, many students are both academically involved and gifted in other areas, whether it be the arts, sports or debate.
Bronx Science has given me a strong foundation in academics. This foundation, combined with my experience in a variety of subjects, will ensure my ability to pursue any field of study in the future with confidence. For this, I am grateful to be a student at Bronx Science.
