Remembering Principal Milton Kopelman

As many alumni know, Principal Milton Kopelman passed away this summer. Principal Kopelman had a transformative effect on The Bronx High School of Science. Mr. Kopelman began his career at Bronx Science in 1949 as a Biology teacher, only a decade into the school’s tenure. He was named chair of the Biology Department in 1961 and then in 1977, he became the third principal in Bronx Science history. Mr. Kopelman retired as Principal in 1990 after an illustrious career of more than 40 years at the Bronx High School of Science. Bronx Sciencerecently celebrated its 80th anniversary, so the fact that Mr. Kopelman was involved with BronxScience for more than half its existence is significant.

Together with Mr. Kopelman’s family, Bronx Science will be hosting a memorial service for him at the school. We are asking everyone who plans to attend to register so we can make appropriate arrangements. Details are below:
