Atomic 100
The Atomic 100 is Bronx Science’s most prestigious giving society. Atomic 100 members commit to making a gift of $100,000 or more over a period of 10 years or less. These gifts may come in the form of a one-time gift, a multi-year pledge or a planned gift – and they all make a tangible impact on Bronx Science both now and in the future.
As of Fall 2024, 77 alumni and friends have joined the Atomic 100 and contributed gifts and pledges totaling nearly $12 million. This program has established a vital foundation of support for the future of Bronx Science and will conclude once the remaining 23 spots on the Periodic Table of Donors have been filled.
Why are Atomic 100 Donors Important?
Atomic 100 donors provide crucial funds to expand the opportunities offered to Bronx Science’s bright and ambitious students and provide them with the resources and challenging learning experiences they deserve.
After covering the cost of faculty salaries, the Department of Education provides Bronx Science with a mere $300 budget per student each year. In many public schools, families are asked to make contributions to help “close the gap.” However, this is not a realistic model for Bronx Science, as half of our students come from low-income households and qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Members of the Atomic 100 step into this family role by making significant investments in Bronx Science. Their gifts are used to support evergreen priorities, such as academic programming, extracurriculars, capital improvements and student financial aid to ensure that all students can fully participate in the Bronx Science experience. Such leadership gifts make it possible to provide our public-school students with a private school-caliber education.
