As you may know, US FIRST is a Robotics competition established to excite students about math, science and engineering.  Bronx Science, under the leadership of faculty member Fred Levy, fields two teams each year -- the "Cyborgs" and the all-girl "Fe Maidens."

The New York City FIRST regional finals were held this past weekend at the Javits Center.  Bronx Science finished 3rd out of the 64 teams, which alone would have been praiseworthy.

But the FIRST community chose to honor Mr. Levy by giving him the prestigious Woodie Flowers Award, celebrating effective communication in the art and science of engineering/design.

The video of Mr. Levy receiving the award is attached.  Heard of someone so happy they are doing somersaults?  Well, Mr. Levy actually does somersaults!

Forward to minute 7:00 and hit play to see our Bronx Science faculty member getting honored at FIRST!
