Bronx Science San Francisco Alumni Event Draws 75

On March 18, 2014, Bronx Science alumni in the San Francisco area gathered at Bronx Science’s first official West Coast event, Technology and Entrepreneurship Networking for Alumni, featuring keynote remarks by Phil Libin (’89), CEO of Evernote.

Hosted by Sang Kim (’88), Bronx High School of Science Endowment Fund Board Member, at the DLA Piper office in downtown San Francisco, the event brought together more than 75 alumni to network with each other, reminisce about Bronx Science and discuss ways to expand opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation and technology at the School.

Assistant Principal of Mathematics and Computer Science, Rosemarie Jahoda brought welcome remarks from Principal Donahue and spoke of the School’s commitment to expanding course offerings in technology, engineering, computer science and robotics. This fall, Bronx Science will offer its first course in Mobile App development.

Libin spoke about his experience at Bronx Science and his career path in technology and entrepreneurship. He discussed both the strategic and serendipitous moments his career has taken but how he learned surrounding himself with smart people was the most important key to success. Something he first experienced at Bronx Science.

Alumni in attendance represented the full spectrum of Bronx Science’s illustrious 75 year history – including alumnus Edward Durbin (’44 June) to more recent alumni.
